When Sentenza Noria and the Corporal were wandering through Liannon during the Morhir's siege around the village, they found Mother Calia together with some refugees at the abandoned castle to the southeast. She explained her situation to the Wolf Guard soldiers: She and her group had escaped from their old home, a town called Mistvale, which was burned down by Isamo Tahar's men during the Mage Wars. They had hoped to find a safe place in Liannon, but were surprised by the elves who had shut down the village.
Additionally a thief was bothering Mother Calia, since food baskets had gone missing all the time. She asked the group of helping her with finding the thief. When going north, the Corporal could find a trail of lost food which led to a small tent in the mid of the forest south of Liannon. A man called Gilbert was taking care of a Sick Man, who turned out to be his father.
Taking all the food[]
Since Gilbert was a thief, the Corporal could take all of Gilbert's illegaly obtained food and bring it back to Mother Calia. Gilbert will be extremely angry and will not reward anything. Mother Calia will be glad for having brought back all the food and will reward a huge bunch of gold.
Splitting the food[]
The Corporal could split the food and take half of it back to the refugees and leave the rest to Gilbert and his father. Gilbert would be thankful and would reward some experience points. Mother Calia on the other hand will be glad that at least some of the food made it back and will reward the Corporal with less gold.
Leaving all the food[]
In order to help Gilbert and his father, the Corporal could attempt to leave all food with him. But Sentenza Noria then would intervene. He would claim all the food on his own since Gilbert was a criminal which should get anything from his actions. Mother Calia will be glad for having brought back all the food and will reward a huge bunch of gold. Sentenza would also criticize the Corporal for having even thought about abandoning the refugees food, since they needed it most.
Obtaining rewards[]
Additionally to the rewards mentioned above, Mother Calia would reward one of the following items for having completed the quest.

- If you have completed The Source of the Disease completely, this quest will terminate once the Corporal and Bertrand Carpel have been taken into custody by the Wolf Guard.
